Thomas Charles O’Neill of Southport, NC and formerly of Warwick passed away on October 19, 2016 at Hospice House of Brunswick in Bolivia, NC. He was 69
The son of the late Harold and Margaret (nee Dooley) O’Neill, he was born in White Plains New York on January 31, 1947.
Tom was an Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a Data Center Manager for United Parcel Service in Mahwah, NJ and IBM in Sterling Forest, NY. Tom was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Southport, NC and formerly a 35 year member of St. Stephen Church in Warwick, NY and was the coach for the St Stephen School Basketball team for many years. Tom also coached Warwick Little League and the Warwick Valley Country Club Golf Team, and volunteered for the Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Carole E. O’Neill of South port, NC and his children son Daniel O’Neill and his wife Kristie of New Milford, CT and Megan Conklin and her husband John of Highland Mills, his 6 grandchildren Ayden, Brady, Caroline, Kasey, Sophia, and Alexandra. Also surviving is his mother-in-law Sophie Kepponen of Southport, NC, his brother James O’Neill of Valley Cottage, NY, sisters Marilyn Ducey, of Calabash, NC, Margaret Fuchs, of Knightdale, NC and Kathleen Neuman of Duluth, GA.as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by is son Thomas Edward O’Neill and his brother Harold O’Neill
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 23rd from 3:00-7:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday at St. Stephen RC Church, private cremation will follow.
Donations in his memory may be made to “Team Pa” in the “Angels Among Us” walk to be held at Duke Medical Center in Durham on April 29th. All proceeds are in support of the leading edge research at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center.
