of Warwick (formerly of Flushing, Queens, NY) passed away peacefully on June 13, 2009 at St. Anthony’s Hospital. He was 73 years old.
Born on August 4, 1935 in Cyprus, he was the son of the late Chris Christodoulou and Athena Hatzinikolas.
He was married to Sophie (Tavlakis) Christodoulou.
John was a self employed NYC cab driver and a former furrier. He was a former member of the Greek American Homeowners Association and a parishioner of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, Middletown.
“John will always be remembered for caring and giving to everyone he knew, for his dynamic BBQ’s and weekends with all the neighbors. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He came from Cyprus 50 years ago and made this country his second home. He was proud to call himself a Cypriot-American. He was a business owner for 40 years. He was loved and will always be remembered by his children, grandchildren and everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him. He always had a smile and a joke to cheer up every moment of our lives. We love you dad, you will always be alive in our hearts.”
He is survived by his wife, Sophie, of Warwick; two daughters: Christine Skouloudis and husband Emanuel of Warwick, and Evelyn Amvrosiatos and her husband Angelo of Warwick; six grandchildren: Angela Skouloudis, Kostas Skouloudis, Sophia Skouloudis, Yianni Skouloudis, Yianni Amvrosiatos, and Sophia Amvrosiatos; two brothers: Loukas Christodoulou and wife Artemis of Astoria, and Kyriakos Christodoulou and wife Helen of Astoria; a sister, Panagiota Raissis and husband Zannis of Astoria.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 15th, from 4:00 – 9:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 2250 Goshen Turnpike, Middletown. Interment will follow in Warwick Cemetery.
