Julia Stamski Barry

93, loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt and wife of deceased Earl V. Barry, died Aug. 28, 2010 at home of natural causes.    

            A lifelong Warwick resident, Mrs. Barry enjoyed a lengthy career at the Warwick Valley Telephone Company during which she held the position of Manager of the Business Office, and was later named Treasurer.     

            Her husband of 51 years, Earl V. Barry, died in 2001.

            Partners on and off the golf course, she and her husband were charter members of the Warwick Valley Country Club who held honorary memberships and won several club tournaments and championships 

individually and together. She shared her passion for golf with many family members throughout her life, often serving as an inspiring and encouraging mentor.   

            Earlier this year, the Barrys honored their beloved Warwick community with a founding contribution to St. Anthony Community Hospital to create the Earl Vincent and Julia Stamski Barry Institute for Patient Centered Excellence of the Bon Secours Charity Health System. Their contribution greatly inspired further donations to fulfill the Institute’s mission to train and educate nurses and physicians on extending relationship-based patient care.

            Survivors include a sister, Eleanor Kispert and husband Andrew of Millville, Del.; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews.  The daughter of Michael and Anna Yezuwit Stamski, she was predeceased by her brothers Peter, Frank and Michael and a sister Helen Murphy.  Her lively spirit and candor, generous heart and dedication to her family will truly be missed, along with her constant, caring presence in everyone's lives. 

            A viewing will be held on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Stephen the First Martyr Catholic Church, Warwick, Mrs. Barry’s endeared parish for many years. Interment will follow in St. Stephens Cemetery.
