Rudolph (PopPop) Roemlein

of Warwick, died on September 13, 2007 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was 74 years old.

 

Born on October 29, 1932 in Suffern, New York, he was the son of the late Rudolf and Barbara Hoffman Roemlein.

 

He was the husband of Kathleen Murphy Roemlein.

 

Mr. Roemlein served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.  He was a Foreman with the NYS Sanitation Department, New York, and was a Tractor Trailer Driver with Agway, Panco, and Jones Chemical Company.  He was a member of St. Stephen’s RC Church, Warwick where he served as an usher for 44 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was a member of the American Legion, Warwick and was a Little League Coach for many years.  Mr. Roemlein was an avid golfer.

 

Mr. Roemlein is survived by his wife, Kathleen;  two daughters:  Jean Florkiewicz and her husband Rich of Warwick, and Barbara Westphal and her husband Al of Monroe; a son, Dennis Roemlein and his wife Judi of Cypress, Texas.  He is also survived by his grandchildren:  Katie, Steven, Ryan, Erin, Michael, Elizabeth, Joseph, Megan, Kate and Kyle.  He was predeceased by his sister, Rose Heinsohn.

 

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 16th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.  Funeral Mass will be at 10 am on Monday at St. Stephen’s RC Church, Warwick.  Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Orange County, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
