of Warwick, passed away after a short illness on April 13, 2009 in St. Anthony’s Hospital. She was 92 years old.
Born on September 30, 1916 in Frankfort Township, NJ, she was one of eleven children of the late David and Bertha (Norman) Skellenger.
She was married to the late Percy Shipman.
Mrs. Shipman was a Machinist with Clemson Brothers, Middletown before retiring. She was a member of the Amity Presbyterian Church, a founding member of Amity Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and an avid Mets fan.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen S. Engle and her husband William of Warwick; a special niece, Patricia Filipowski of Greenville; granddaughter Jessica Nielson and her husband Dan of Salisbury Mills; grandson Ryan Filipowski of Greenville; four sisters: Mary Dunay of Vernon, NJ, Gertrude Van Horn of Andover, NJ, Myrtle Mackerly of Hamburg, NJ, and Kathleen Thomas of Plant City, FL; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 18th, from 10:00-11:00 am at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
