Carol A. Colin of Warwick, NY passed away on March 1, 2020. She was 81 years old.
A family statement written with love by Ali Colin, on behalf of Carol’s family, reads:
Mommy, thank you for being such an amazing Mom. No matter what you faced, you always rose up to it and handled the challenge. Whatever you had to do-you did it! Especially when it came to your family. You are a hero to your children and grandchildren. You showed us all that, on Christmas day 2000 when you prayed Dad into heaven as you held him in your arms.
Mom, we’re not sure the three of us could have made it through the loss of dad without your love and support and true example. You are so loved by your beautiful grandchildren, and they knew just how much you loved them and how lucky they were to have you. Even nicknaming you “Grandma Darlin’”!
We learned so many wonderful things about you and from you over the years. One thing you should know for sure, is that you are so very loved. All over Warwick, in North Carolina by your beautiful niece, and Long Island by so many more of your nieces and nephews, as well as in Georgia, by dear friends and of course Florida with more of your nieces, nephews and friends. Even in Chicago, you were loved, and we KNOW you are deeply loved in heaven.
We miss you tremendously, but your three girls know you that you are happy and at peace up in heaven with Dad. It’s important for us to show you that we are all at peace down here too. We are! You can rest and be happy and enjoy all your time with Daddy.
Mommy battled Alzheimer’s the way she battled everything else. Even though she was losing everything, she knew she could count on us and trust us three. She did so much. She never forgot her love of music or sharing family pictures (in a special album that her daughter Ali compiled) and stories every day. Alzheimer’s couldn’t take mommy she was too strong (she was proudly Irish AND born in Queens after all)! Mom went on her own terms, when she was ready. We know she loved us all so very much.
Mommy, we miss you down here, but we know you’re ecstatic up there and we’re all OK down here. It was so wonderful to see you so free and happy at the end. We all love you so very much (like you and I always said: “Love is all you need”). This a beautiful day for you, as we celebrate your life and the love you gave. Thank you for being the most amazing mom in the whole world. You did great mom. We love you forever!!!
