Gary Alan Carter, a lifelong resident of Warwick, NY, left this world too soon on September 2, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born on December 22, 1953, to Michele (Cohen) Carter and the late Charles R. Carter.
Who was Gary? Quiet and reserved on the surface, he had a quick, dry wit and a strong intellect. As the family humorist and pun-master, he created album covers, games and wrote humorous poems to commemorate special occasions, from birthdays to graduations to his parents' 50th, then 60th wedding anniversaries. He had a passion to serve in the roles of teacher, Coach, official. Gary was a teacher in the Vernon (NJ) School District for 33 years. For many of those years, he coached girl's soccer and softball, and to this day maintained his inspirational Coach status to many former students. He also coached and officiated high school, college and town sports. Gary was an ASA umpire and member of the HS Softball Association for 37 years, acting as Past President of each for 17 years, as well as acting as ASA District 4 Commissioner for 20 years. He was inducted into the ASA National Indicator Fraternity in 1997. He was an avid Mets fan.
Primarily, Gary was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and recently, grandfather. Shermane (Bierwas) Carter was his one true love for the past 47 years, having fallen for her at the ripe age of 15. Her heart is broken, losing "the only one she was made for." In addition to his mother and wife, Gary is survived by his daughters: Rebecca (Stephen Davis), Taylyn and Sharleigh, all of Warwick. Grandson: Phoenix Garrison Davis. Siblings: Robert and wife Sharon, of Phoenixville, PA, Beth and husband Steven Pivovar, of Stony Point, NY, Craig and wife Kelley, of Tacoma, WA, Julie of Middletown, NY, German Colon and wife Diane, of Warwick, NY and Bob Moran and wife Debbie, of Warwick, NY, and brother-in-law Jon Bourassa (Jose). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. In addition to his father (2014), Gary was pre-deceased by his brother Michael Stephen Carter (1989).
Where is Gary? He is in a peaceful place with others gone, where he will always remain husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend and Coach.

Please join the family in a Celebration of Life at 1 PM on Saturday, September 12 at the Warwick Methodist Church, 135 Forester Ave.,Warwick. A reception in the fellowship hall will follow the service.
