Marion Quackenbush
11/29/2012

Marion Lovena Quackenbush, 84, of Warwick, NY, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY.

Marion was born March 29, 1928 in Warwick, NY and was the daughter of the late George and Ella Shorter.

Marion was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She never had an unkind word to say about anyone.  She had a great sense of humor.  On many occasions when she didn’t agree with Bud, she would just stick her tongue out at him (of course, behind his back.)  Marion kept a positive attitude even though she had MS for 49 years.  She was just a sweet lady who was loved by everybody she met.  She will remain forever in our hearts.

As a full-time homemaker, Marion made time to be a den leader for her son’s Cub Scouts.  She attended MS meetings at Mercy Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. She loved to make favors for all their special parties.

She belonged to the Dutch Reformed Church in Warwick, NY.  She watched children during church services.

Marion enjoyed watching her soap operas, I Love Lucy re-runs, crocheting, knitting, canvas work, doing puzzles, and playing old records.

Marion was pre-deceased by her husband Wallace (Bud), to whom she was married for 65 years.  She was also predeceased by two sisters, Charlotte Leeper and Frances De Lade and one brother, Clayton Shorter.

She is survived by one daughter, Diane Gallondorn and husband Thomas of Port Jervis, NY; one son, Dale Quackenbush of Holland, MI; two grandchildren:  Pamela Dunleavy and husband Michael of Port Jervis, NY and Kenneth Costic and fiancé Diane Hartman of Port Jervis, NY; two step-grandchildren, Dawn Lory and husband Darin and great-grandchild Karlianne of Middletown, NY, and Mark Gallondorn and wife Amanda of Mason, OK.  She is also survived by one brother, Kenneth Shorter and wife Lillian of Pearl River, NY, and a brother-in-law Morton Quackenbush and wife Muriel of Warwick, NY; also survived by very special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 3rd,from 12:00pm – 1:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, followed by funeral service at 1:00 pm.  Interment will be in Warwick Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Warwick Community Ambulance, PO Box 315, Warwick, NY 10990 or a charity of one’s choice.
