Born on June 11, 1931 in Paterson, New Jersey, he was the son of Arthur Dickten and Charlotte Nehring Dickten.
He was the husband of June Zimmer Dickten.
A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Dickten served in both the US Army and the US Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post #214 in Warwick. He was a Night Supervisor with Georgia Pacific, Warwick. He was a School Bus Driver with the Greenwood Lake Board of Education for 15 years and also drove for the Warwick Board of Education.
He is survived by his wife, June of Warwick; a son: Vern G. Dickten, Jr. and his wife Denise of Warwick; two grandchildren: Alycia Dooley and her husband Brian of California and Alanna Dickten of Warwick.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 9th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen.
