of Warwick, NY, passed away after a short illness on March 18, 2010 at Cancer Treatment Center of America, Philadelphia, PA. He was 65.
Born on March 3, 1945 in Highland Park, MI, he was the son of the late Leonard and Hester (Smith) Haglund. Raised in Ferndale, MI, he was a longtime resident of Chester, NY and Warwick, NY.
He was married for 47 years to Karen “Mickey” (Taylor) Haglund.
Before retiring, Mr. Haglund was the Warranty Audit Manager with Mercedes Benz, Montvale, NJ for more than 30 years and also worked part time as Deputy Chief with the Town of Chester Police Department for 20 years. After his retirement from Mercedes Benz, he started his own business, Warranty Audit Expert, Inc. He was a volunteer with the National Transplant Assistance Fund, Bryn Mawr, PA, encouraging the importance of organ donation.
A family statement reads: “As an avid golfer, he loved wintering in Sunset Beach, NC, his wonderful friends, and the companionship of his dogs.”
He is survived by his wife, Karen “Mickey” Haglund, of Warwick; two daughters: Holly Finley and her husband Christopher of LaGrangeville, NY and Michele Haglund and her companion, Tatiana Schultz of Whitinsville, MA; his grandchildren: Kira, Layla, and Dalton; and his dog, Riley.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, from 4:30-7:30 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, followed by a memorial service at 7:30 pm.
