RAYMOND W. YOUNG, JR., INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVE
Raymond W. Young, Jr., of Warwick, passed away on August 9, 2011 in Warwick. He was 80 years old.
Born on March 15, 1931 in Glen Ridge, NJ, he was the son of the late
Raymond W. Young, Sr. and Alberta Jahn Young. He grew up in Maywood and
Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, attending Ridgewood High School.
His corporate career in consumer packaged goods dealt mainly with Latin American markets. Starting as Central America sales representative, he spent succeeding years in several international management positions. Later he was head of Latin America export sales, licensees, and two LA subsidiary manufacturing operations. Among his employers were Liggett & Myers, Inc. and Borden Foods Company.
Next, self-employed with two associates, he helped manufacturer clients achieve far more export sales via select overseas wholesaler customers.
He was a graduate of Yale University and The Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a member of PREX Argentina. Besides reading, some favorite pastimes were grouse hunting, walking, tennis, and studying European medieval history, including England.
He is survived by a son, Brad Young and his wife Barbara of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a brother, Stephen Young and his wife Debra of Warwick; an uncle, Arthur Young of Kansas City, KS; cousins: Mary Lou O’Connor of Flanders, NJ, Richard Raidt of Texas, and Donald Raidt of Kansas City, KS; dear friends: Jackie & Orrin Pierson of Otisville and their children, Lorna, Rachel, Carolyn and Rita, and Maureen and John Kohler of Amity and their children Derek, Chase, Lauren and Liam.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday at Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, NY.
