
Francis V. McKiernan, of Warwick (formerly of Brooklyn, NY and Highland Lakes, NJ) passed away on January 19, 2014 at home. He was 98 years old.
Born on August 15, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Philip and Anna (Costello) McKiernan.
He was married to the late Barbara (Clear) McKiernan (2013).
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a Staff Sergeant in the Pacific Theatre. He was a retired New York City Fireman with Engine #76 in Manhattan & #276 in
Brooklyn, NY and was a member of Holy Name & Emerald Society of the NYC Fire Department. He was the owner of McKiernan TV & Radio in Brooklyn, and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Highland Lakes.
He is survived by his daughter Barbara Rodriguez and her husband Andrew of Hamburg, NJ; his son, Kevin McKiernan and his wife Christine of Warwick, and his daughter Theresa McKiernan of Warwick; seven grandchildren: Marie McKiernan, Daniel McKiernan, Hugh Cringle & his wife Dawn, James Cringle, Bridget Mac Lagger & her husband Kevin, Megan Sumner & her husband Bryan, and Sara Green; two great-grandchildren: Hugh Morgan and Caitlin.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 22nd from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, NY. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am on Thursday at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 185 Breakneck Road, Highland Lakes, NJ followed by interment in St. Stephens Cemetery, Warwick, NY.
