Marian Rudy Sanford
05/02/2014

Marian Rudy Sanford, of Oxford, FL (formerly of Warwick, NY) passed away on May 2, 2014 in Florida.  She was 83 years old.

Born on October 6, 1930 in Warwick, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Koch) Rudy.

She was married to the late Raymond Prior Sanford (2001).

Marian was formerly a Buyer with Edie Lingerie in New York City.

A family statement reads:  “Marian (better known as Honey) was dearly loved by all who knew her.  She was fun loving, kind, hard-working and loved to garden and entertain.  As a child, she grew up in Warwick and after HS, started a career in NYC.  She eventually married Sandy and moved to Manhattan, where they worked and lived during the weekdays and traveled up to their charming cabin in Warwick every weekend. You could always find Marian working in her garden, visiting her brother Dave in the barn milking cows or taking a walk up and down the long road leading to the top of the hill.  This place was Marian’s heaven on earth.  Although Marian never had any natural children of her own, she was deeply loved by her 3 stepchildren.  Marian and Sandy later retired to Lady Lakes, Florida, where they lived a wonderful life together.  Marian’s love of her life, Sandy, departed 13 years ago.  Marian never stopped talking about him.  Four years ago, Marian entered Mission Oaks Assisted Living in Oxford, FL, where she became the Ambassador of welcoming guests and keeping everyone entertained.  A heartfelt and tremendous thank you to everyone at Mission Oaks who adopted Marian into their hearts and made her feel like family. Her family is eternally grateful for the love and care she received there.  Marian will always be remembered by the title of her favorite song by Peggy Lee “Is that all there is my friends, then let’s keep dancing.”

She is survived by a sister, Frances Halvorsen of Lewisburg, FL;  sister-in-laws, Nancy Rudy and Ginny Rudy, of Warwick, NY; stepdaughter, Dianne Costa of Belleair Beach, FL; stepsons, Richard Sanford of Holmdel, NJ and Ken Sanford of Wolcott, CT; nieces & nephews:  Henry Halvorsen, Chrisy Caprio, Karen Lilley, Susan Windham, MaryJane Londis,  John Stasinis, George Rudy III, Joe Vozza, Anthony Vozza, David Rudy and Darrell Rudy.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 8th, from 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.  Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at Warwick Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation-Genitourinary Program, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612
