Mary “Maria”  Mondello, a resident of Warwick for almost 60 years, passed away on January 9, 2017 at St. Anthony Community Hospital after a long illness.  She was 96 years old.

Born on November 3, 1920 in Montereale, Italy, she was the youngest daughter of the late Michele  and Grazia (Sirccro)  Ferlazzo.

She was married to the late Timothy Mondello (1987).

She came to the United States in December, 1956.  Before retiring, Maria was a Factory Worker for 25 years with Mechanical Rubber Company in Warwick.  She was a parishioner of St. Stephen RC Church.  Maria loved gardening and always had a large vegetable garden, as well as many flowers.  She also enjoyed crocheting, making many beautiful blankets. 

She is survived by her two sons:  Joseph Mondello of Warwick, and Antonino Mondello and his wife Lainie of Westtown, NY; one granddaughter, Leslie Mondello Boggatta and her husband Garry.   She was also predeceased by three sisters and two brothers.

The family would like to thank all those at Schervier Pavilion and St. Anthony Community Hospital for the wonderful care provided for their mother.

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday at St. Stephen RC Church, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.
