Miguel Colon Capo

Miguel Colón Capó, of Warwick, formerly of Houston, TX, passed away on February 11, 2014 at home.  He was 69 years old. 

Born on December 13, 1944 in Guayama, Puerto Rico, he was one of fourteen children and the son of the late Concepción and Rosa Maria (Capó) Colón. 

Miguel served with the US Army from 1963-1966 during the Viet Nam War.  He was a member of American Legion Post 214 in Warwick.   He worked at the Napanoch Correctional Facility and was also a Sprinkler Installer in Massachusetts. 

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Colón-Palenik of Wallkill, two sons:  Miguel Colón of Bronx and Daniel Colón of Newburgh; his five grandchildren:  Marcus Adam Palenik, Madalynn Rose Colón, Ashley Iliana Rincon, Marisa Electra Colón, and Evangelina Milagros Colón;  and one great-granddaughter, Jadalynn Serena Motts. 

He is also survived by his siblings:  Luz S. Teicher, J. David Colón, Ruth N. Lopez, Rosa M. Colon, Edwin Colón, John Edgar Colón, Elisamuel Colón, Judith Nightengale, Miriam Navarro and Lydia Robinson.  Miguel now joins his siblings who have already passed away, Victor Juan Colón, Gloria E. Colón, and C. John Colón. 

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 12:00pm – 1:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm.  Interment will be in Orange County Veterans Cemetery.
