of Palm Harbor, Florida, (formerly of Warwick, NY) died on December 30, 2006 at Schervier Pavilion, Warwick. He was 85 years old.
Born on September 6, 1921 in Brooklyn, he was the son of William Huffman and Tillie Puchalski.
Mr. Huffman served with the US Army and was a veteran of the China Burma Theatre in World War II. Prior to WW II, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the state of Washington. He was a member of VFW Post 5806 in New York City. He was a Postal Worker with the US Postal Service for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Luke’s Church in Palm Harbor, Florida.
He was the beloved husband of the late Helena Gazelak Huffman and the devoted father of Barbara Williams and her husband John of Secaucus, NJ, Sharon Fraclose and her husband Tom of Palm Harbor, FL and Nancy Friedler and her husband Robert of Warwick, NY. He was the loving grandfather of eleven grandchildren: Amy, Justin, Allison, Hayley, Erin, Scott, Jared, Kathryn, Lauren, Cameron and Jillian. Also survived by a sister, Anna Mitchell, of Hudson, NY.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 1, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-8 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Funeral service will be at 8pm on Monday. Private cremation. Interment of cremains will be at Calverton National Cemetery at a later date.
