Margaret Murray Veth, of Warwick (formerly of Greenwood Lake and the Bronx), passed away on December 29, 2013 at St. Anthony Community Hospital. She was 91 years old.
Born on August 7, 1922 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Ann (Stovall) Murray.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Veth, who was a retired Lt. of the NYC Fire Dept and Major of the US Army Reserve. She was also predeceased by her son, Joseph Veth, Jr. (Buddy), a Technician for Con Ed.
At the time of Margaret’s retirement in 1985 from Hunter College, NYC, she was Assistant to the Dean of Education, Hugh J. Scott, former Supt. of Schools in Washington, DC. She was a member of St. Stephen RC Church, Warwick.
She is survived by her children: Michael Veth and his wife Mary of Tucson, AZ, Margaret (Peggy) Veth of Lincoln Park, NJ, and Matthew Veth and his wife Marie of Greenwood Lake; her grandchildren: Joseph and Jamie, both of Greenwood Lake; and a sister, Ann Renner of Palm Coast, FL.
Memorial visitation will be on Tuesday, January 21st, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, NY. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 22nd, at St. Stephens RC Church.
