Ernest Wadeson

Ernest Wadeson, a lifelong resident of Warwick, passed away on February 28, 2014 at Schervier Pavilion. He was 92 years old.

Born on August 30, 1921 in Warwick, he was the son of the late Ernest and Mary (Watson) Wadeson.

He was married to the late Ethel M. (Quackenbush) Wadeson.

Ernest served with the US Army during world War II and was a longtime member of American Legion Post 214 in Warwick.  He was a Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service for 38 years before retiring in 1960.  He was a 65 year member of Excelsior Fire Company, Warwick, and attended the Warwick United Methodist Church, where he was a member of COGS.

Dancing was a big part of his life and for many years he was a member of the Orange Squares, a square dancing club in Montgomery.  He and Ethel square-danced around the world.

He is survived by his two sons:  Bill Wadeson and his wife Marilyn of Warwick, and Richard Wadeson and his wife Ginny of Warwick; four grandchildren:  Craig Wadeson and his wife Jeanine of Warwick, Dr. Kelly Wadeson of Cleveland, OH, Joel Wadeson and his wife Kristin of Pine Island, and Michael Wadeson of Warwick; four great-grandchildren:  Madeleine, Annabelle, Tanner, and newborn Amelia.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Lockwood.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 5th, from 12:00pm–4:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 pm.  Interment at Warwick Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry, c/o Warwick United Methodist Church,  135 Forester Ave., Warwick, NY 10990.
