My talented Sister Jeannette

Long before Jeannette Walsh married & had 4 beautiful, intelligent children she had a life as my sister,  Jeannette Mary Haberland. Daughter of William & Jeannette, born in Astoria NY during WW2.

As the second child of William, she inherited many fine traits from our father's German heritage beyond her beauty, sparkling crystal blue eyes & perfect smile. She gleaned an inherited operatic singing voice that could make Angels envious.  A courageous honorable soul.  A comedic nature that gathered crowds in her love of performances that spread joy. Back then, within the safety of our family circle, she would act out comedy skits that rivaled Carol Burnett. She could belt out tunes with Enrico Caruso, Nelson Eddy or any popular singer of any era.  Neighbors thought her voice was a recording

Her unwavering faith, loyalty & kindness had no boundaries then. I was proud to be her "little sister"  that she protected & taught to navigate a city of 8 million to not only survive but actually thrive in it after the death of our father.  I recall how I cried & begged her not to leave home for her own apartment.  She introduced me to my first teen crush that worked with her.  Took me to see the amazing 1964 Worlds Fair, my first News Years Eve party.  She nursed me for weeks after being scaulded by boiling water.  After our  divorces we raised our kids together. Grandma was living with her which gave us some freedom for day trips & an occasional girls night out .. We made so many fun memories . I'm thankful for those memories & my faith that sustains me during this heartbreaking loss. Jenny earned her wings & the privilege to sing in God's choir.  Sing loudly Jen!

I will miss my beloved Sister. .

Always your little Sister,

Linda
