Remembering Lissa

Remembering Lissa (Phyllis B. Scott)

Our life together included places and people. Memories of life in Philadelphia, California, the Philippines, Lewisburg, Ithaca, Honolulu, Indianapolis, and New Jersey are still vivid, and some of those befriended are still in our orbits. Among the memories are raising and loving Ryan and Kira; designing our first home in Ithaca; dinner parties for which Lissa experimented with menus; Lissa teaching science to acclaim wherever we went, including the base high school in Subic Bay, the Philippines, and a community-supported venture at Skiles Test Elementary School in Indianapolis; helping at Unitarian churches in Ithaca and Indianapolis, including teaching together in Sunday School after painting the classroom; living in Honolulu for a month; raveling across Canada for ten wonderful days to visit Dee Dee and Tony on Lasqueti Island; going with friends by van from Ithaca to Colorado Springs with four adults, four children, a dog and a cat; tennis, softball, cross-country skiing, and of course water: sailing our Sunfish in Franklin Lakes and swimming at the Devon Club, the Indian Trail Club, Grande Island in Subic Bay, Long Island Sound, and Cayuga Lake, among others. One of Lissa’s memories was working on the Lunar Landing Project at Grumman, using her science background to further a national purpose,

Memories are made of places like these and the people we befriended.
