Learning to ride a bike

Uncle Junior was the one who taught me how to ride a bicycle.

He was visiting us (Minnie, Ricky, Kirk and myself) in Parkchester.  I had a bike, but didn't know how to ride it.  So, Uncle Junior insisted that we go out and give me some pointers on how to ride.

Uncle Junior and I walked my bike to the local park.  I hopped on the bike, and Uncle Junior held on to the back while I pedaled.  He gave me some pointers on how to pedal and balance.  It's all about moving forward, he explained.

At one point, he told me to remember everything he said, but most important just pedal forward.  I was sure he was holding on, so I pedaled and balanced with confidence.  After some time, I decided to look back at him with excitement at my newfound skill, only to find he was some distance behind me!  I had rode my bike halfway around the park all by myself!

Immediately after realizing he was not holding on, I toppled over.

But, I had enough confidence at that point to try again, and this time I was able to start all by myself.  I carry this memory with me always.,  Thank you, Uncle Junior.  You will be missed.
