Suzanne Arnowitz, of Warwick, passed away after a long battle with cancer on September 3, 2016 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 58 years old.
Born on May 31, 1958 in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, Sue was the daughter of Winifred Senger Hubner and the late Cornelius Hubner. She was a graduate of Marymount College, Tarrytown, NY.
She was married to Glenn John Arnowitz and is survived by her husband Glenn, daughters Kara Maria Arnowitz and her husband Matthew Thomas McKevitt and Lisa Frances Arnowitz; sisters Jennifer Wasek and husband Paul, Winnie Foster, Lisa Furciniti and husband Chuck, Amy Hubner, Francesca Polli; brothers Eric Hubner, Paul Hubner and wife Lynn, Peter Hubner; and nieces and nephews Amy Borecky, Kevin Foster, Keenan Foster (deceased), Danny, Kayti and Matthew Hubner, Evan, Janine and Natalie Wasek, Erik and Sarah Hubner, Ada Furciniti and David Polli.
Suzy loved to play guitar, write songs and sing ‘em. She blames that on her parents who taught her to sing “rounds” on long car rides along with her 8 siblings. She was a mainstay in the Hudson Valley music scene and also loved bird watching, gardening, painting, cooking (especially mac ‘n cheese), antiquing and road trip thrifting with her sister Winnie in her Fiat. Besides her family and friends Suzy’s best companion was her puppy Aurora, who was always by her side.
She cherished her family and especially her daughters. She left them this message: “Do you know how much you are loved? I love you everyday and twice on Sunday. You are my sunshine, my joy, my air. Always care for each other and please practice forgiveness, listening and mindfulness. Be happy! Be goofy and make life fun! And like I always say… spread the love around. Be fearless because God is always with you and so am I. I know that you will do great things in this world my darlings.”
Sue’s strength and resilience was due to her unwavering faith and her selfless concern for the well being of others. Sue was all about forgiveness, mercy and kindness. Her presence changed things and transformed people. A quote from one of her favorite songs says it all, “bitterness keeps you from flying, always stay humble and kind”.
A special thank you to the Cancer Center nursing staff at Orange Regional Medical Center whose compassion and care helped Suzy and her family in her final days.
