Elizabeth Clark

11/17/2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Clark of Warwick, NY in the late afternoon of November 17, 2021 at Morristown Medical Center, NJ. She was 86 years old. Although extremely strong in will, an avalanche of complications developed from a serious fall led to her leaving this earth peacefully while surrounded by her children.

Elizabeth (Betty) was born in Fairview, NJ to Arthur and Marcella (West) Faller on March 2, 1935. Raised in Fairview and Bergenfield, she married at the young age of 20. She and her husband Jim scrimped and saved working full time while raising a family of four in Emerson. Carefully balancing work and home life Betty was a wonderful mother & homemaker that kept not only the household spotless but her children as well. Her schedule revolved around her hair appointments and she always kept her nails and makeup application to her very high standards. You could always count on her punctuality and reliability as she was an utmost creature of habit. Inherited from her mother, she expressed her love through her cooking skills which were then in turn passed down to all of her children, especially to her son the chef. She loved trying out new recipes and was widely known for her astounding poundcake.

Prior to her retirement, Betty worked 20 years as the surgical coordinator for Bergen Orthopedic and Sports Medicine in Westwood, NJ. She had many dear friends and was an active member at the Warwick Golden Seniors. She always enjoyed activities such as spending time with family, reading, gardening, playing mahjong with ‘the girls’ and jokingly ‘gambling away her children’s inheritance’ at casinos. Betty, our family matriarch, will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Colleen Devlin and her husband Peter of Middletown, NY; son Michael Clark and his wife Kris of Indianapolis, IN; daughter Maureen Kane of Melbourne, FL; son Daniel Clark and his partner James Kuhnert of Boonton, NJ; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, James, her sister Marcella Herschel, her son-in-law Brian Kane and her grandson Jason Ferrare.

The family will receive family & friends for a memorial visitation on December 3rd from 2 to 6 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated (& livestreamed @ https://ststephenchurchwarwick.org/) on December 4th at 12 noon at St. Stephen the First Martyr R.C. Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick with interment in Warwick Cemetery following the Mass. To view the Mass online, use this link:

A beautiful, caring, and truthful memorial. Our friend who we’ve known for 40 years. We shared many cruises and casinos with her & Jim laughing most of the time. We’ll remember the good times.❤️

I am so sorry about the loss of your Mom. She was a special lady. Although, I have known your mother for almost 34 years, I truly got to know her this past year and had many laughs and Great conversations together. I will never forget how many times she fired me from my Friday morning job, but had to hire me back because her hair was the most important thing! I will truly miss her. I will miss just stopping by to chat with her. She will forever be in my heart❤️
