Raul Resto-Carrion

1/6/2021

Raul Resto-Carrion, 81 of Bronx, NY passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 06, 2021 at Bronx- Lebanon Hospital Center.

Born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico on November 25, 1939. He was the son of Ramon Resto and Guillermina Carrion.  Raul loved his island of Puerto Rico and the town of Ceiba. While living in Puerto Rico he had a passion for Paso fino horses, raising and breeding them.

In 1959, he met the love of his life, Virgen Guillermina Ramos in 227 E 126 St. They married in 1960 where they lived together, inseparable, for over 62 years.  They enjoyed each other’s company and spent endless nights playing dominos.

As a young man he learned to work hard and take on whatever job was available to support himself and his family.

Raul was a member of the Teamster Union 2682 and worked as a painter with M. Goldsmith, Inc. In Brooklyn. He also served as secretary of the Teamsters for more than 40 years.

Raul was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed music and loved playing his guitar to entertain family and friends, during holidays, picnics, reunions and gatherings. He often played traditional story telling music from Puerto Rico and Mexico.

He was a strong family man and good friend to all, a man who would give his shirt for the ones he loved. He was a good father who always took care of his sons, he did the best he can to teach and guide them with the help of his beloved wife. Together they built an empire!

He was a lovely grandfather and great grandfather who always expressed the importance of keeping family together.

Raul was a strong, proud and good man who never cared much about himself and who even in his final days would say to his loved ones just take care of mommy “Virgen Resto”. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Raul is survived by his wife, Virgen Guillermina Resto.
