Marguerite "Naomi" Hansen

10/26/2020

Marguerite Naomi (Delo) Hansen of Warwick, NY passed away on October 26th, 2020. She was 90 years old.

Born in Huntington, NY and raised in Northport, NY, she was one of two daughters born to the
late James and Marguerite (Murray) Delo.

Naomi, as friends and family called her, was a proud confidential secretary for the United States Postal Service in Melville, NY as well as an incredible mother, grandmother, and matriarch to her beloved family. She was also an artist, ballroom dancer, fancy dresser, and always the first to start a conversation.

Naomi made herself the head of the welcoming committee wherever she went. The queen of “small talk” as she phrased it herself made a point to remember something about each new person she met. Her friendliness and warm spirit left an impression on everyone she knew.

Naomi is survived by her children: Glenn Hansen and his wife, Patricia of Fairfield, CT, Scott
Hansen and his wife, Marianne of Warwick, NY, Dawn Hansen and her husband Frank Lenihan
of Seal Beach, CA, and Gail Fennell and her husband, Kevin of Ridgefield, CT; grandchildren: John Peter, Meredith, James, Thomas John, and Samantha Hansen, and Abigail Fennell; sister, Joann Veit of Melville, NY. She was predeceased by her son, Todd Hansen and her ex-husband, John Hansen.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 30, 2020 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. Interment will be private in Tappan Reformed Church Cemetery.

Love and prayers to Naomi’s Family. Naomi befriended my Mother Elizabeth Kelleher when she was a new scared resident at Valley View. Naomi took my Mom under her angel friend wings and always looked after her. We as Elizabeth’s Family got to know Naomi. We considered her a friend and our Valley View Family. We will all miss her. What a wonderful woman and special soul heaven just welcomed. It was an honor to know and love her.

Although I never met Naomi looking at her smile and hearing her described as warm and welcoming reminds me of my dear friend Gail. Clearly much of her lives in you. You all did so much for your mother during these difficult times with the visits and the garden outside the window. You probably feel like it wasn't enough ,but it was .Your mother loved you and she was grateful. .It is never easy, there is never a good time, we are never ready to say goodbye. I am truly sorry for your loss. Take care of each other .Love Robin
