Vincent LaVorne

3/5/2019

Vincent LaVorne, 64 years of age, of Warwick, NY, passed away peacefully after a long illness, on March 5, 2019, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.

Living in Warwick since 2003, Vincent came to love the town and many of the residents of the community, of whom he became very fond of and considered to be his friends.

Raised in Glen Rock, NJ, his very first job at the age of twelve was at Little John’s Barber Shop in town. After graduating from Glen Rock High School, he was awarded a scholarship and attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City. For many years, he enjoyed his work as a talented graphic arts teacher and technical trainer at Agfa-Gevaert Group.

Vincent was a talented artist, with a strong and vibrant personality, gifted in many ways. He was a sublime musician and composer, especially with stringed instruments, particularly acoustic and electric guitars, of which he had an impressive collection.

Vincent spent many of his happiest hours in his beloved “great outdoors” fly fishing and hiking. He  taught his daughter Kate, his niece Danielle, and nephew and godson Jayson how to tie their own flies.

A superb cook, he shared his love of cooking–attributed to his mom–with his daughter and granddaughter. He loved family gatherings, where his creative culinary skills were always the highlight of the occasion. He enjoyed planning events where he always shined as both host and chef.

A voracious reader, Vincent was a connoisseur of history, from ancient to modern times. He was also deeply engaged in the study of economics and politics. There are few things he enjoyed as much as a lively political or historical discussion.

He is predeceased by his parents, James and Roberta (Cunningham) LaVorne, and sister Joyce Campanella. He is survived by his loving wife Pamela, their daughter Katharine (Kate), and granddaughter Nina, as well as his brother Jay LaVorne and his wife Kristin, sister Roberta (Lynne) LaVorne, nieces Louise Martin, Christine Rosenfeld, Danielle Rigg, nephew and godson Jayson LaVorne, and five great-nieces–all who will love and miss his presence eternally.

Cremation and memorial gathering will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Vincent’s memory to one of his favorite charities, Heifer International online at https://www.heifer.org/campaign/end-hunger-poverty-donation.html.
