Richard Wayne Nemeth, 80, of Warwick, NY passed away at home on Friday, September 1, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Born on April 15, 1943 in Rahway, NJ, he was the son of the late William “Bill” and Florence (nee Price) Nemeth.
He met his wife of 57 years, Sharon, in the first grade. Childhood sweethearts, they treasured their trips to New York City to attend musical performances, the theater, and the ballet. They also enjoyed vacations down the Jersey Shore with their daughter, son-in-law, and two grandsons.
Richard graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1961 and Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1965. Before moving to Warwick in 2016, he spent most of his life in Woodbridge, NJ, where he owned his own business and was the managing partner of several real estate partnerships. He was a lifelong lover of the Great American Songbook, especially the music of Frank “Chairman of the Board” Sinatra. Richard was known for his intelligence and impeccable style.
He is survived by his wife Florence “Sharon” Nemeth of Warwick; daughter Lori Humphreys and her husband David of Milton, MA; sister June Pormilli and her husband James of Northampton, PA; and grandsons Jackson and Aidan Humphreys of Milton, MA.
Memorial visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Friday September 8, 2023 at the Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home 17 Oakland Ave. Warwick, NY. A Memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
