Philip A. Friedler

8/15/2021

On behalf of the Friedler Family, we would like to celebrate the wonderful life of Philip Friedler. Philip passed away early Sunday, August 15, 2021. His wish is that we celebrate his loving wife Mary and their four children, Liz, Matt, Brian, and Gerard and his amazing grandchildren Elloise, Owen, Ethan, Abigail, Ava Rose, Elliot, and Joseph.  Phil would also send his love to all of his friends and extended family. Phil  joins in heaven his father Pappa Munty and mother Mary, his brother Robert, and favorite nephew Dylan.

For the few people in the Hudson Valley and Vernon, NJ that did not know Philly, he was unconditionally kind and a full-of-life soul with a story for every situation.  Phil lived an eclectic professional life working with Axa Financial, as the Director of Security at Action Park(Mountain Creek), and as an adhoc pretzel/furniture salesman at Pennings Orchard.  He loved Warwick, camping with his family, schmoozing with the local folks, and offering ice cream at Pennings.  Philly loved to tell stories which were a true mixture of fact and fiction, but 100% entertaining.  Phil loved life and it loved him back!

We will gather to acknowledge his life on Wednesday, August 18th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Lazear-Smith and Vander Plaat Memorial Home at 17 Oakland Ave, Warwick NY. A Mass will be held at 10:00 am on August 19 at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church located at 75 Sanfordville Rd, Warwick NY.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Foundation.

My family moved to Warwick from Monroe 6 years ago. Around that time I met Phil at Pennings and we hit it off well from the beginning. I spoke with him hundreds of times. He took at instant liking to my family and I sat and listened to many stories. Although I didn’t meet most of his family he shared many stories of successes vacations etc. I bought furniture from him many times just generally found him to be a kind man. I saw him make little kids smile and he was cheerful till the end. I saw him a few days before he passed and he never let me know how serious it was. I texted him last weekend when I heard he was in the hospital and his short answer gave me the feeling that things where not good. He will be dearly missed and I am happy to have met him and called him a friend. My deepest sympathies to you and your family and may he RIP.

Sincere condolences to Mary and all of Phil’s family. I had the great pleasure of working with Phil back in the Action Park days. He was an absolute pleasure to work with, and always had great stories to tell. He had the best sense of humor and was always happy go lucky. May he Rest In Peace. I’m sure he & Gene are already charting away.
