Barbara J. Ritzer of Vernon, NJ (formerly of Belleville, NJ) passed away on June 28, 2021 at Newton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She was 70 years old.
Born in Peekskill, NY on July 6, 1950, she was the daughter of John and Virginia (nee Reichert) Chaky.
Barbara was a devoted wife and mother, always taking care of us and our family. She enjoyed playing bingo, going on cruises and vacationing in Myrtle Beach. She loved all animals; especially her two cats, Millie and Tango. She also enjoyed watching the chipmunks and squirrels in the backyard. There were frequent visits from two raccoons whom she nicknamed Loki and Ricky and an opossum she called Little Guy.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Larry; daughter, Dawn DiLascio and her husband Joseph of Sparta, NJ; two grandchildren, Austin and Aiden; sister, Monica Toepfer of Palm Coast, FL and brother, Andrew Chaky and his wife Marietta of Ocala, FL. She was predeceased by two brothers, John and Walter Chaky.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY with the Reverend Eun Sung Han officiating. Final disposition will be private.
