Frances Ezzo

2/23/2021

Frances Mary Antonia Bonastia Ezzo was born to Peter and Mary Bonastia on November 16, 1943 in Montclair, NJ. She passed away on February 23, 2021 in Warwick, NY from lung cancer.

She is survived by her husband Lou Ezzo; son Mark Costantin, daughter-in-law Mika Costantin and grandchildren Nanami, Rocco, Fina; daughter Amy Costantin Zampella, son-in-law Drew Zampella; sister-in-law Bobbie Bonastia, nephews Peter M. Bonastia and Chris Bonastia; stepdaughter Teri Ezzo Young and husband Steven Young, and grandchildren Anthony, Gianna, Dominick, Luciano, Vivianna, and Lorenzo; stepson Tony Ezzo and grandchildren Jake, Zachary and Cassidy; and stepdaughter Louise Ezzo. Fran was predeceased by her parents and brother Peter J. Bonastia.

Fran grew up in Montclair, NJ. She was aptly named class clown at Montclair High School. She acquired her undergraduate degree in liberal arts as well as additional Masters training in Fine Arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ. Fran was always creating: painting, drawing, sewing, crafting, cooking and baking. She especially loved creating homemade Christmas presents for the entire family. Fran designed her first family home in Pompton Plains, NJ, a gorgeous modern ranch with a double-sided stone fireplace and huge windows overlooking the town.

Fran was a lover of food and a magnificent chef who found her ultimate joy in feeding her family and friends. She created hundreds of Christmas cookies to gift every year. She owned a catering company, The Kitchen Door, and happily fed the Pompton Plains community from her lunch spot of the same name. Fran also owned Main Street Pub in Haskell, NJ for many years and met her husband Lou there. She was one of the smartest and wittiest people you would ever meet. She was a long suffering NY Jets football fan. Fran will always be remembered for showing love through creativity and making people laugh.

Visitation is Monday, March 1 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home,              17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY with a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Interment will be private.

Franny was a delight. She was present in my life from my beginning. Aunt Franny. My mother loved her, and I later learned why. Authentic. Alive. Fun. All the good qualities in a person...aunt...friend. She will be missed by many, including me for sure.
