Elizabeth A. "Betty" Ault

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Ault of Warwick, NY passed away on December 12, 2020. She was 90 years old.

Betty was born July 18, 1930 in Hackensack, NJ, the younger daughter of George and Helen (Randall) Schopmeier. She graduated from Hackensack High School in 1949, and was married to Wilbur “Bill” Ault in 1951. They were happily married almost 65 years when he passed in 2016.

Betty shared her kindness and caring nature through her work as a receptionist and medical records clerk for Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ, Bergen Pines Hospital in Paramus, NJ and Hackensack Hospital in Hackensack, NJ. She loved to serve at church, teaching Sunday school for elementary and middle school children, and establishing libraries or serving in already-established libraries for the churches she attended. She did this at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Teaneck, NJ; Grace Church in Ridgewood, NJ; Grace Community Church in Franklin Lakes, NJ, Bethany Church in Wyckoff, NJ, and most recently at Valley Bible Church in Warwick, NY.

Betty leaves behind a large and loving family, including her five children: Marilyn Hohnholt and her husband Larry of Houston, TX, Fred Ault and his wife Robin of Warwick, NY, Janet Begnoche and her husband Joe of Goshen, NY, Susan Quigley and her husband Ed of Orlando, FL, and Steven Ault and his wife Irena of Kunkletown, PA; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill; parents; her twin brother William; and her sister Barbara Labagh.

Private arrangements were made by Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY 10990. Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be held by video conference on Sunday January 3. Interment will be in Hackensack.

Our dads were friends, and soon the Aults became an extension of my family. Betty was always so cheerful and upbeat. It's going to be hard with her gone, May the God of all comfort grant comfort and peace to this family. Our parents are all together again waiting on us, as they usually were. All my love to my other family.

My loving memories of Betty have been from just the past decade or so from our years at Valley Bible Church in Warwick. Thank you Betty for always being such a thoughtful, kind, & nurturing spirit to everyone who knew you. I am so glad that I had the privilege of being your friend Betty. Enjoy your time now with Bill. I had the opportunity to move in wrh Betty Ault and her family. I was having a hard time at home and Betty offered to rent me a room in their home and I moved in with a real Christian family. I lived there about a year and had a great time and they made me feel like family. I called her MAMMA B - she was like a real mother to me We sat down and talked for hours and we had plenty of laughs, It was a great year. Even though I moved and got my own apartment I never ever will forget MAMMA B and the Ault family. .
