Jacob Bender

Jacob Bender, formerly of Franklin Lakes, NJ passed away peacefully on November 3, 2020. He was 86 years old.
Born in Havana, Cuba on March 17, 1934, he was the son of David and Bertha (Zemilman) Bender.
He was married 62 years to the love of his life, Elsa (Paula) Bender, who predeceased him.
Jacob traveled the world with Elsa, visiting Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Figi Islands and Morocco, just to name a few places. He loved the beach, movies, music, and dancing. He enjoyed playing games like Mahjong, Scrabble, Monopoly, Dominoes and Uno with his grandchildren. He was a great handy man. He could fix anything and if he didn’t know how to fix it, he’d figure it out. He enjoyed history, and teaching his grandkids about his native Cuba. Baseball was his favorite sport. He played it in Cuba and coached both of his sons’ Little League teams. He was also a collector of coins and stamps.
Jacob is survived by his two sons, Jacob R. Bender and his wife, Cheryl of Warwick, NY and Jeffrey Bender and his wife, Carolyn of Waldwick, NJ; four grandchildren: Jason Bender, Nicole DiNome, Zachary Bender and Zoe Bender; and one great-grandchild, Jacob (JP) DiNome.
Arrangements were private.
