Frank Kenzik

5/4/2020

Frank Kenzik of Warwick passed away peacefully on May 4, 2020 at Schervier Pavillion. He was 91.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Francis Kenzik and Mildred Herth Kenzik.
He lived a large part of his life on Long Island and in Queens, New York. He moved to Warwick in 1991 with his wife, Alice (Johnson) Kenzik, and after a short period residing in Spotswood, New Jersey, returned to Warwick in 2010.

Frank worked full time in the banking industry until he was 75 years old. He loved working and the friendships he made over his working life, and often helped young people obtain their first positions in the banking business.

Frank was active in the St. Gerard Majella Drum Corps of Hollis, Queens, for many years, helping to shape the lives of young people and leading them to many international appearances and awards. He remained friendly with a great many former members throughout his life.

He was known to, and beloved by, almost everyone in Warwick, always having time to stop and talk about old times and new. He enjoyed playing cards with his neighbors, eating out at his favorite places, and just being in the company of others. He loved watching classic movies and musicals. He was known for his ceramic creations, which still adorn many homes throughout the country. He was a lover of all things chocolate, and was especially fond of his dog, Brianne.

He was married for over sixty years to Alice, who predeceased him in 2012. He is survived by his daughters Debra (Kenzik) Cangro, of Spotswood, New Jersey, and her companion, Randy Solano; Carolyn (Kenzik) Mahon and her husband, Michael, of Warwick; and his son, Brian Kenzik, of Ronkonkoma, New York, and Brian’s companion, Suzy Messer, of Marshfield, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas Kenzik (Jane) of Charleston, South Carolina, and James Kenzik of Los Angeles, California; his eight beloved grandchildren, Lori Vento (John) of Spotswood, New Jersey; Michael Lomenzo of Deposit, New York; and Scott Lomenzo (Dimitra) of White Plains, New York; Kelle Kenzik of Ronkonkoma, New York; Kerri Mahon of Warwick, Kaitlin Mahon of Los Angeles, California; Kristen Mahon and Kimberly Mahon, of Winter Garden, Florida. He is also survived by his six great-grandchildren: John Thomas Vento and Matthew Vento of Spotswood, New Jersey; Nicholas Vento of Long Island, New York; Ryan Bernabe of Staten Island, New York; and Nicholas and Sophia Lomenzo of White Plains, New York. They will miss their beloved ‘Papa’ and “GGP”, his sense of humor and young heart. Frank is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge the care and attention given to Frank by the doctors and nurses at Orange Regional Medical Center, and Schervier Pavilion in Warwick.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick with interment following the mass in Warwick Cemetery.
