José Diaz Velez of Warwick, NY passed away on February 14, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was 74 years old.

 

Born in Puerto Rico on April 14, 1945, he was the son of the late Andrea Velez and Felix Diaz.

 

José was a truck driver for the United States Postal Service in New York City.

 

José is survived by his wife, Ruth Kelly; daughters, Ruth Figueroa and her husband Luis; son, José Diaz; daughter, Eunice Diaz; grandson, Alejandro Rodriguez; and six sisters: Gloria Díaz, Carmen Luisa Diaz, Ana Justina Diaz, Ney Diaz Colon, Isabel Diaz and Xista Rafaela Diaz. He was predeceased by two sisters, Delia and Josefa Diaz and a brother, Luis Felix Diaz.

 

Visitation will be on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 2: 00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY.  A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 22 at St. Stephen the First Martyr, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick.

Dear Ruth, my sister, my brothers and I are truly saddened that our uncle has passed. As you know we grew up with him and have a tremendous amount of great memories with him. I know that Mom would be surely be grieving the passing of her baby brother. We will be keeping you and his children in our prayers.
