Helen Taranto

Helen Taranto (nee Dallas) of Warwick, NY passed away peacefully on November 25, 2018. She was 68 years old.

 

Born in Astoria, NY, to parents, the late George and Katherine (Frangos) Dallas on June 21, 1950.  Helen was a graduate of Fort Lee, NJ High School.

 

Helen worked for Liberty Travel in NJ. She was one of the five women to start the New Jersey Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America. She also served as past-president of the Allendale, NJ Newcomers Club, and the Allendale Junior Women’s Club and the Warwick Valley Social Club; as well as past member of St. Stephen’s Sodality and Altar Societies, St. Anthony Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, and the Amity Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary.

 

She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald at home; daughter, Jennifer Taranto-Manning and her husband Joseph of Seattle, Washington; siblings, James Dallas and wife Yonne, Peggy Styliades and husband Nick, and Jeanne Sekas and husband George.  She was predeceased by her horse, Charlie Brown, whom she lovingly referred to as her “therapist.”

 

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Stephen’s RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick on Thursday, November 29, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the mass in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s name may be made to the Pine Island Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc., P.O. Box 264, Pine Island, NY 10969 or to the charity of one’s choice.
