Richard N. Klein

7/3/2018

Richard N. Klein, of Warwick, NY, passed peacefully into eternal rest on July 3rd, 2018 at St. Anthony Community Hospital.  He was 68 years of age.

Richard was born on November 9th, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY to Carl J. and the late Sylvia (nee Siegal) Klein, and was older brother to Lee Klein.  Richard held a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic University, NY.

Richard’s gifts and talents encompassed a broad range, from computers and media technology, to photography, poetry, and spirituality.  He is a published writer; his collections of spiritual writings, This is God:  From Religion to Realization, was published in 2010, and his photographs have appeared in various local and national publications.  Professionally, Richard’s career spanned website design, information technology support, and computer sales at The Fellowship of Reconciliation, Planned Parenthood of the Mid-Hudson Valley, and Further Media.

Richard is held deeply in the hearts and souls of those fortunate to have known and loved him as a tender and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.  His gentle, constant presence, quick wit, and intelligent, enlightened conversation, coupled with an openness to engage and dialogue with others in seeking paths of understanding and tolerance across, in particular, religious and political perspectives are hallmarks of his character and personality,  He valued, especially, his work at The Fellowship of Reconciliation, as it allowed him to pursue and support the national and international peace building initiatives of the organization.  While at FOR, he had the opportunity to be part of an interreligious delegation to Israel and Palestine seeking dialogue and community with both sides.  Richard engaged his political views in lively written commentary, both published and unpublished, and in active dialogue with colleagues, family and friends,  His was a life lived in consistent pursuit of the interplay of spiritual consciousness within human awareness, and tolerance both personally and in the social arena.

His legacy is honored and continued by his wife, Katherine, and his children Mariel, Chiara, and Julian.  Richard always cited his children and his role as father as the greatest work and gift of his life, a work that he fulfilled in a gentle yet immensely powerful and effective way.
