Floreen R. "Lori" Sanford

8/12/2017

Floreen R. “Lori” Sanford of Warwick, New York, entered into rest on August 12, 2017.

Born on March 25, 1937 in New York, New York, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ann (Duelk) Rounseville.   A well-known actor and tenor, Robert starred in Broadway shows and in movies including Carousel and The Tales of Hoffmann.  Her mother was a line dancer on Broadway and a gifted pianist.

With a passion for the arts and adventure around the Big Apple, Lori loved Central Park and Broadway and attended her Father’s many performances while she was growing up!  She loved gardens filled with sweet smelling flowers, the colors pink and green.  She spent time outside reading literature of all types, especially loved poetry, listened to classical music, and always kept up with current events and politics.  She had a wonderful sense of humor!  Lori was a graduate of Lasell College in MA and previously worked as a researcher and reporter for Newsweek, then later worked in retail for JC Penney.

She is survived by her loving husband, John W. Sanford III of Warwick, New York; her daughter, Dorothy Ann of Warwick and companion Guy Bogart;  her son, John W. IV and wife Suzanne of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina;  four grandchildren:  David John “DJ” Rinaldi, Jaime Nicole Rinaldi, Montana Lyn Sanford, and Rory Kate Sanford; and a great-grandchild, Isabella Rinaldi.  She is also survived by a brother, Wilfred E. Rounseville of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave, Warwick.  Burial will be private.

Memorial donations would be appreciated by the Warwick Valley Ambulance Corps. PO Box 315, Warwick, NY and the Warwick Valley Humane Society, PO Box 61, Warwick, NY 10990.
