Harry W. Slagle

With a sad heart, we share the passing of Harry W. Slagle on January 12, 2019.
Harry was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on July 2, 1939. He was the son of the late Harry W. Slagle Sr. and Delores Slagle(nee Montaque). He was one of six children, all of whom attended catholic schools.
After high school graduation, Harry joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he received much of his further education that lead him to a successful career in the automotive business. He served active duty from 1956-1960 followed by four years in the Marine Corps Reserves 1960-64. His tours of duty took him to the Philippines, Okinawa, Japan and Quantico, VA.
He married his wife, Patricia(nee Viola) on July 23, 1960 at St. Anthony RC Church in Northvale, NJ.
He was the proud father of Andrew Slagle(Diane) of Westtown, NY and Ann Marie Graziadio (Joseph) of Warwick, NY. He took great joy as a grandpa to six grandchildren: Andrew, Alexandra, Benjamin, Juliette, Genevieve and Madeleine, and was always ready to spend time with them.
Harry was an active outdoorsman. He was a lifetime member of the NYS Skeet Shoot Association, NYS Lifetime Sportsman, a member of Monroe-Chester Sportsman Club, NYS Trapper Association, NJ Trappers Association, National Trapper Association, Orange County Chapter and the NRA. He supported the Marine Corps League. Harry was also a devoted Yankees fan and over the past several years, being housebound due to his failing health, he never missed a game.
He and his wife Patricia were married 58 years, always facing life’s challenges as a team. Harry was a devoted son-in-law sharing the care of his father and mother-in-law in their later years.
Harry will always be remembered and cherished by his family and dear friends as a caring and loving child of God.
Cremation was private.
