Nancy C. Giza

10/23/2017

Nancy C. Giza, of Goshen, NY, passed away on October 23, 2017 at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center, Middletown.  She was 80 years old.

Born on May 15, 1937 in Montclair, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma Williams.

She was married to the late Barney S. Giza (2005).

As her husband Barney traveled with the Army, Nancy lived in various places throughout the world during the 1960’s.  For most of the rest of her life, she lived in Goshen, raised her children and co-owned a tavern.

She was active in the Goshen VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Christ Episcopal Church of Warwick.  At times, she was a columnist for The Warwick Dispatch.

Her fondness for cats, calligraphy, music and discussing political history were surpassed only by her love for her sons, daughter-in-laws, and grandchildren.

Survivors include her three sons:  John Giza and his wife Leigh of Bristow, VA, Joseph Giza and his wife Susan of Wurtsboro, NY, and Jim Giza and his wife Kerry of Sutton, MA; and her grandchildren:  Heather, Jennifer, David and Alexandra.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 27th, from 6:00-9:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.  Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 28th, at the funeral home, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be sent to American Lung Association, 237 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY 10605.

To the family and friends of the deceased, Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Many have found true comfort from the pages of God's word the Bible (2 Corinthians 1:3-5}. The Bible tells us why we die (Genesis 2:16, 17; Romans 5:12) the condition of the dead (Ecclesiastes 9:5) and that we can be reunited with our loved ones (Acts 24:15). The Bible also tells us where this happy event will take place (Psalm 37:29; 115:16). At John 17:3 Jesus tells us the benefit of reading and studying the Bible. He also said at John 8:32 that "the truth will set you free". Please visit JW.org to learn what the Bible really teaches.

My favorite day with Nancy was when my cat and I visited her at Park Manor. She loved cats and was surprised to see that I brought MinniešŸˆšŸ¾ along so they could meet each other. Nancy was smiling from ear to ear. We had such a nice time together! I want to always remember Nancy this way.

I knew Nancy from program. When I wasn't feeling well, she was a comfort as I knew she was there yet she didn't interfere. We had some good talks. Blessings for the family. Please accept my sincere condolences.
