Francis W. McManus, a resident of Warwick since 1979, passed away on September 24, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 86 years old.
Born on October 25, 1930 in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Vincent and Anna (Simon) McManus.
He was married to Sheila (Makowski) McManus for 65 years.
Francis was a Korean War veteran, serving from 1948-1951. He was wounded in combat and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He was a retired Detective with the NYPD. After retirement, he received a Master’s degree in Nursing and retired from nursing after 20 years, and he was quite proud of his achievements in life. He was a member of St. Stephen RC Church, Warwick.
Francis loved hunting and fishing every year.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila McManus; his five children: Mary Colletti and husband Bernie, Gene McManus, Edward McManus and wife Kay, Christopher McManus, and Kathleen Morse and husband Bob. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; his brothers: William McManus, Thomas McManus and Vincent McManus. He was predeceased by a sister, Miriam McArthur and a brother Eugene McManus.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 27th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Thursday at St. Stephen RC Church, followed by interment in Orange County Veterans Cemetery.
