James Ecker

James Ecker, age 66, of Stroudsburg, PA, entered into rest on September 11, 2017 after a long illness.

Born on December 28, 1950 in Huntington Park, CA, he was the beloved son of the late Pastor Clarence and Dorothy (Schultz) Ecker.

He assisted his Dad in Barron, Wisconsin, learning the ministry.  He graduated Oak Hills Bible College in 1969 with two degrees in Christian Education and Bible studies, and was a member of the Evangelism Corp in the early 1970’s.  He was an artist and also played the accordion and loved leading people to the Lord.

He was a beloved Bible teacher and Christian missionary with BCM International, serving the Lord for over 40 years.  He loved and lived his faith and loved children, teaching over 5000 students in Monroe County, starting release time Bible classes, and conducting them for over 32 years.  Jim was an avid photographer and talented puppeteer, having a gospel puppet booth with many of his students at the West-End Fair for over 30 years. 

He was a proud missionary and member of Calvary Bible Church, East Stroudsburg, PA, and attended the First Baptist, Wesleyan Church, Berean Bible Church and Reeders Methodist Church, all in Monroe County, PA.

Jim was the beloved husband of Marilyn Bergquist and resided also with her in Highland Lakes, NJ.   He is also survived by his beloved brother, Paul Ecker; two nieces, Pam Houser and Kristina Ecker; and great-nephew Jeffery and great-niece Kaytlin, all of Waseca, MN.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 14th,  from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.  Funeral service will be at 10:30 am on Friday at Valley Bible Church, 35 Ronald Reagan Blvd,  Warwick, NY, followed by interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to BCM International, 201 Granite Run Drive, #260, Lancaster, PA 17601 or Valley Bible Church, 35 Ronald Reagan Blvd, Warwick, NY 10990.
