James F. Lawler

James F. Lawler, of Warwick, NY (formerly of Airmont, NY), passed away on June 7, 2017 at St. Anthony Community Hospital.  He was 78 years old.

Born on July 29, 1938 in Astoria, Queens, NY, he was the son of the late James F. Lawler and Barbara Gallagher Lawler.

He was married to Mary Ann (Richmond) Lawler for 48 years.

James served with the United States Marines and was retired as an Information Technology Manager with the Bergen Record newspaper, Hackensack.  He was a member of Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, NJ.

A family statement reads: “ Jim was an avid Giants and Yankees fan.  He loved taking his dog for walks, enjoyed reading, and his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren.”

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Warwick, NY; his children:  James F. Lawler II and his wife Carrie of Sherwood, OR and Robert J. Lawler and his wife Kathleen of Warwick; his beloved grandchildren:  Riley, Campbell, Ryan, Sean, Kyle and Emily.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 12th, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 13th, at Church of the Presentation, 271 West Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, NJ.  Private cremation.

Donations may be made to Catholic Charities, 1011 1st Avenue, New York, NY  10022.

I am so sorry for your loss, Jim was a wonderful neighbor and friend to us for 32 years. I will always remember him walking his dog and talking sports with my husband. Both loved the Yankees. He will be missed. RIP Jim.
