Elizabeth "Betty" Faherty

Elizabeth “Betty” Faherty, of Warwick, passed away on January 23, 2017 at St. Anthony Community Hospital.

Betty was born in Queens, NY and was one of nine children of the late Peter and Annie (McGuire) Sullivan.

She was married to Thomas Faherty.

Before retiring, Betty was a Switchboard Operator with Puro Water in Maspeth, Queens.  A graduate of William Collin Bryan HS in Queens, she was a member of the “Seven Sullivan Irish Step-dancers” (with her sisters.)

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Faherty of Warwick; a son, Peter Faherty of Queens; a sister, Margaret Scanlon of Warwick.  She was predeceased by her daughter, Jude-Eileen Faherty at the age of 21 years, her brother Patrick Sullivan, and her sisters Anna Sullivan, Helen McManus, Catherine Burns, Rita McMurray, Theresa Finn and Loretta Glock.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 26th, from 2:00-5:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.  On Friday, January 27th, visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm at Edward D. Lynch Funeral Home, 43-07 Queens Blvd., Long Island City, NY.  Funeral Mass at 10:30 am on Saturday at St. Sebastian RC Church, 58-02 Roosevelt Ave., Woodside, NY, followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery.
