Adam J. Washington

11/27/2016

Adam J. Washington, of Warwick, passed away unexpectedly on November 27, 2016.  He was 28 years old.

Born on February 13, 1988 in New York, NY, he was the son of Reginald V. Washington and Kathleen “Kate” M.A. (Bruce) Washington.

Adam John Washington was born in New York City, but grew up on Sugarloaf Mountain in Chester, Orange County, New York. In the nearby township of Warwick, he attended Kings Elementary School, Warwick Valley Middle School and Warwick Valley High School. Favorite childhood stories included the “Lion King” and “Robin Hood.” A sports lover, Adam’s athletic interests included playing baseball in the Warwick Little League and varsity football for his high school and the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union). His exuberance for both snowboarding and skateboarding underscored his teen years. Adam’s international travels included family trips to visit far-flung relations in Scotland and England, and lengthy solo journey to Israel. As a young adult, Adam was a member of New York National Guard. Adam was a beloved Uncle to his two nieces.

He is survived by his father, Reginald Washington of Warwick, and his mother, Kate Washington of Greenwood Lake; his sisters:  Chloe J. Washington of Greenwood Lake and Elizabeth K. Washington of Texas; his paternal grandfather and grandmother, John H. and Cynthia A. Washington; his paternal grandmother, Nellie E. Washington; his nieces Mia and Lilli; and an uncle, Eric K. Washington of New York City.  Also survived by Auntie Ciggy and Uncle Ian, Auntie Marie, Auntie Ebie and Uncle Mick, Uncle Pat and Auntie Barbara, Uncle Mike and Auntie Yvonne and Auntie Anne.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 1st, from 6:00-9:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday at St. Stephen RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick.  Interment will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be sent to Purple Champions Club, Attn:  Gregory Sirico, Warwick Valley High School, 89 Sanfordville Road, Warwick, NY 10990.

Mere words can't express what all of you must be going through right now. May you and your family be comforted at this very, very difficult time, Reg.
