William E. Howell

William E. “Bill” Howell, 87, a lifetime native of Florida, NY, entered into rest on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at home surrounded by family.
He was born on June 14, 1929 in Goshen, NY to the late William S. and Lillian D. Howell.
He graduated from S.S. Seward Institute in 1947.
He was raised on a dairy farm and continued his love for farming for forty years. He also was the founder and co-owner of DTH Septic Service with his son Skip. He was an avid hunter. He would spend time during the winter months snowmobiling. Some of his most treasured time was spent with his grandchildren.
He married Audrey Morrison on September 8, 1951. Together for sixty-five years, they raised six sons and had the privilege to see all six obtain the highest rank in scouting, Eagle Scout.
Some of his life accomplishments include: Village of Florida Citizen of the Year, a 58 year member of Warwick F&A.M. #544, where he was Master 6 times and DDGM of Orange and Rockland from ’90-’92; Scoutmaster of Troop #44 for 12 years. Member of First Presbyterian Church of Florida and Warwick Reformed Church, and affiliated with Goshen Presbyterian Church, and also inducted into the Seward Sports Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey M Howell. Son William Howell Jr., Son Gary and his wife Nancy, daughters Katy and her husband Arin and Jackie and her fiancé Dan; Son Robert and his wife Kim, children Bobby, Emily, and Nora; Son Skip and his wife Diane, children Julie and her husband Corey, Courtney and her husband William, Brooke, and Shawn; Son Timothy and wife Lisa, daughters Paige and Hana; and Son Randy; Great grandsons Chase, Reid, and little “Will.” Nieces and nephews: Linda Ledek, Kenneth Mayer, Denise Dunscomb, David and Carol Moonan, and many others.
He was predeceased by his parents William S. and Lillian D. Howell, daughter Joyce Howell, and Sister Marjorie Howell Moonan and her husband Raymond.
Visitation Friday, November 11, 2016 from 3pm-8pm, with Masonic service at 7pm, and funeral service on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10am at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, NY (845) 986-4331. Graveside services to follow at the Florida Cemetery.
