Jeffrey M. Schadt

1/4/2016

Jeffrey M. Schadt, of Goshen, formerly a longtime resident of Warwick, passed away on January 4, 2016.  He was 67 years old.

Born on December 23, 1948 in Warwick, NY, he was the son of the late Philip and Lorraine (Wisniewski) Schadt.

Jeff served with the US Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member and Sergeant at Arms with American Legion Post 214 in Warwick, as well as a Vice Commander.

He was a Sales Manager with Nexans in Chester, NY.  He was President and  a member of the Warwick Fire Department, Goodwill Hook & Ladder Company for over 30 years, and served as Vice President of Orange County Volunteer Fire Fighters Association.  As a firefighter, he was very active in parade activities for many years and he was a member of the Tri-County Judges Association.

A family statement reads:  Jeff was a dedicated father and a very generous friend.  He was always the first to show up to help, and the last to leave.  As a young man, he played many sports in school and was a proud member of the OSAC (Orchard Street Athletic Club).  Most of all, he was a great jokester and loved to make people smile.

He is survived by his three sons:  Jeffrey M. Schadt, Jr. and his wife Jean of Commack, Christopher Schadt of Goshen, and Matthew Stephen Schadt of Goshen; two grandchildren:  Logan and Morgan; two brothers:  James P. Schadt of Watervliet, NY  and Philip Schadt of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister, Arlene Schadt of Dunedin, FL.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 8th, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick.  Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Goodwill Hook & Ladder Co., 25 Church St. Extension, Warwick, NY 10990
