Jenny B. Stewart

Jenny B. Stewart, of Warwick, passed away on July 21, 2015 in St. Anthony Community Hospital.  She was 76 years old. 

Born on October 10, 1938 in Panama City, Panama, she was the third child of Lillian P. Cunningham and Claude Adonis Stewart, and was raised in the town of Chorrillo. 

Jenny graduated from Ideal School for Fashion, where she studied dress making fashion design.  She came to New York in 1961 to be with her older sister, Ida, and lived in Brooklyn, NY.  She worked for Rand Cleaning Industries until they closed and then worked for Cascade Linen Service.  After retiring, she was a live-in nanny for many years until she retired again and became a full-time grandma.  

She met Jeptha Watkis, Sr., in 1962 and had a son, Jeptha, Jr.   She relocated to Warwick, NY in 1994.  Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, dancing, playing Bingo, taking grand kids to the movies, eating out and having a good time.

She is survived by her sons:  Jeff Watkis and his wife Terri of Warwick and his sisters, Ruth Watkis and Gloria Cary;   grandchildren:   Westley Watkis and JoiAshanti Watkis;   sisters:  Ida Maria Stewart Davis and Luisa Rosa Stewart Torres. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.   She was predeceased by brothers Claude (Andy) Adonis Stewart, Jr. and Juan (Sunny) Stewart.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 31st, from 11:00am – 1:00 pm at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, NY.  Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm.  Interment will be in Warwick Cemetery.

It is very hard to say goodbye to someone who loves life so much and was so kind to others. From near and far, Jenny always remembered and reached out to me. Knowing that she touched other lives is a blessing to our family. My prayers and thoughts are with you each day.

Aunt Jenny was such a loving, joyful and thoughtful spirit. She was always so thoughtful of me and I will never forget how kind she was to me. She will be greatly missed.
