Dorothy C. "Dot" Wilson

Dorothy C. “Dot” Wilson, a lifelong resident of Warwick, passed away on February 10, 2015 at Schervier Rehabilitation Center, Warwick. She was 94 years old.
Born at home on Maple Avenue in Warwick on August 27, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Clarence W. Wilson and Nellie Waldron Wilson.
A 1938 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, she became employed with Warwick Valley school system, but then joined the war effort, traveling to Washington, D.C. She started permanently at Warwick Valley school system in 1946 as the Confidential Secretary for the Superintendent of Schools in the Warwick Valley Central School District when there were only 800 students in the district, retiring in October 2011 at the age of 91 years. During that time, she also served as Clerk of the Board of Education. In November, 2000, the Dorothy C. Wilson administrative building was dedicated. Her main love in life was her work.
Dot found great relaxation in going for a drive in the country and knew most of the back roads. She was a genuine lady and a very private person, who will take many secrets to the grave with her. She was a lifelong animal lover and an avid NY Yankees fan and rarely missed a game.
Preceded in death by her sister, Marian H. James Reeder and her brother, Clarence Wilson, she is survived by a niece, Barbara James of Tucson, AZ.
Her niece would like to thank the staff at Schervier for their compassionate care for Dot while she was ill and for the support and love of her friends.
A private graveside service will be held. A memorial service is planned for the spring.

I worked with Dot at Warwick for 11 years as the other Confidential Secretary until my retirement in 2010. She was an amazing lady, and I loved her very much. She had a long and productive life doing exactly what she wanted to do and was dedicated to Warwick and the Superintendents she supported. She deserves all the tributes made to her. What an amazing lady!
